Hardwoods
I make my flutes of various fine hardwoods, and
some of Cedar, Maple, Cherry or other exotic woods. The woods
most often used are Curly Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Redheart (a beautiful,
rich, deep red-colored wood), and Paduk (an orangish-red wood which
deepens in color with age).

Wood Finishes
All flutes are fine finished with 3 coats of lacquer. I do offer
an alternate hand-rubbed finish that is silky and less shiny.
I use bees wax and linseed oil for my hand-rubbed finishes.

Bored
Flutes
I bore my flutes from a single, solid piece of
wood without routing, or gluing.

Pitch and Sound Quality
All my flutes are concert quality and fine tuned as to pitch.
The hardwoods add a bright, clear, crisp tone to the sound with
more volume than most soft wood flutes (such as Cedar, Aspen or
Cottonwood).

I make several different bird designs. My most
popular ones are the stylized bird, and some Zuni fetish designs
such as the eagle, bear, coyote, and mountain lion. I also offer
custom bird designs. Please call for a quote.
